Codex? 2 Years, 5 Months ago

I seem to have misplaced my copy of the codex and apparently don't have sufficient permissions to access the one in the wiki. Help? Thanks!

... actually, you do. However, it is your username that is causing the issue. Take the spaces out of your username and that should alleviate the problem. However, after you do that I may have to re-sync the system.... but that will allow you access to the Codex section of the Wiki.

*sigh* Pity I didn't notice the "No spaces" admonition to begin with. Fixed the username. Thanks!

I guess that is the thing... the core system does allow for spaces, but the wiki does not *shrug*. With all that I am having to do for school at the moment, I do not have the time or the inclination to even think about getting that all ironed out. Ah well.
So, the question then... are you able to get into and read the Codex now?

I can access the individual bits, but when I click on the specific Codex Legion entry I get a "insufficient permission, did you forget to log in?" error. I'm sure if I dig enough I can find my hard copy somewhere...

I have it saved to my flash drive if you can't find it. Also keep in mind that for a while, the Codex that was posted online was not the uptodate one, even tho Meph said it was (believe me, I, like, triple checked). When the current one made it up, I made sure to save it.

Yeah... and how long did it take to actually notify me that there was an error in what was uploaded? If you fail to tell me, then there is no right to complain.
Richard... let me get your account synced and give it a try again.

I do believe I had said something several times to you. You "updated it" and it still wasn't recent.

I am not going to get into an argument with you.. however what you are referring to is a situation where that version of the Codex had been uploaded for several months before it was even brought to my attention. And for that matter, you are bring up an issue that is... what, several months old now? And that is with the prior system? And besides, what is the relevance to the situation now?

You were being a jerk about things not getting brought to your attention. I'm mentioning an instance where I did bring something up and it took a while to get fixed. Don't have to get your panties all in a bunch.

BTw, after fiddling with my computer, I still can't view/download the awards. Yes, I have the most updated version of Adobe Acrobat (just updated it this morning). And I tried it in both Firefox and IE.

Give me the URL of where you are trying to get the files from... want to make sure we are working from the same page.

Okay, stay with me on this one... I am trying to narrow down the issue as I cannot reproduce any problem and I am able to download the files just fine, so, I need a starting point to get this issue corrected and need to start from very simple steps...
I am assuming that you are starting from this page to get the documents: Wiki Awards Documents Page
The page lists the various documents (one apparently is missing and I need to pull that off my other computer to get it uploaded, but, for the moment it is not important).
What happens when you click on the 'LINK' that is to the 'RIGHT' of the PDF Icon? Does the link even show up? Does the link not work? Do you receive a message? Does the document download but is not readable? Give me as much information as you possibly can... And while I just love being a Jerk (*rolls eyes*) ... I need every little bit of information that you can give me other than 'It doesn't work' because that just does not tell me anything, because, again, it works just fine for me and I have no idea what is going on in front of you on your computer.

Yes, I go to the the link thing you posted. When I click on the links (and yes, they are to the right of the pdf icon, the text on the left doesn't work as a link), my browser stutters and opens up Adobe (at least, according to task manager, it opens), the url and the name on my window/tab changes, but the actual page content doesn't change (other than links no longer work). The document itself does not show up, even tho everything that happens says that I should see it. I don't get any messages.
I'll play around with it on campus during my web design class to see if maybe it is my computer just has PMS again.

Just an FYI, the awards open fine on Cirions laptop that runs Linux (Dont ask me which distribution, it works which is more than my computer does at present and Firefox.
Codex is non-functional for me (I get the did you forget to log in error) but that doesnt bother me much (Aka, we can mess with it later when I/you have time). I wonder if its the underscore in my user name...

Bean Si... yes... I think it does have to do with the underscore (GAH!!! why does things have to be so difficult!!! if the origional author had spent just a bit more time ... *sigh*)
Try this for me then... 'Right Click' the file and do a 'Save As' ... see if that will work for you.
On another note, if the WIKI is going to be that much of a problem, I may just have to move the data elsewhere ... I don't know... it shouldn't be this much of a pain!!!!

Hmm, the "save as..." bit worked. It hasn't before... Strange. Anywho, problem solved (in a way).

I think it has to do with a conflict in coding between the wiki and Acrobat plugin for your browser (and this really falls outside my ability to even remotely know how to fix this)... Think why it works for me is I don't have acrobat set to work within the browser, but have it load separately.
I will have to put a note into the wiki itself to allow future users know of this situation.

I will continue to play around with it on my computer specifically, as I didn't know about the plug-in crap. I'm not as much of a computer nerd as you are, tho I'm trying.
So I played around with it on the Mac (using FireFox) in Quigly 110 (computer graphics lab, I'm only expecting Meph to understand where I'm talking about). When I normal click on the link, it opens up a new window thingy and asks me if I want to view the document in Preview (Apple's less cooler version of Acrobat Reader) or if I want to download it. Between this issue and my web design class, I'm actually quite curious to see how other computers react to my "problem."
